11-5-olio1.jpg11-5-olio logo.jpgIt's not often that you come upon a shop that so boldly declares its raison d'etre over the door. And Olio is nothing if not fun. An old house full of "kitschy, eclectic, and cool stuff," stepping through the door is sort of like stepping back in time. It's a flea market booth, and your kooky, eccentric, world traveling great-aunt's fun apartment, and an amazing estate sale, all rolled into one.

We weren't surprised to learn that owner Melissa Thoeny's also a graphic designer. It's clear there's a talented eye at work here. Not everyone would think of combining Mexican paper mache dolls, vintage dish towels, collectible state plates, old board games, paint-by-numbers paintings, and suitcases. But she does. And it works. Why? Because it's fun.

I've often wondered if I have my browser set wrong -- am I the only one to have all the margins messed up on this particular page? The Links are running down the center and some of the ads are overlapping some of the content. Apologies if I'm missing something obvious.
