SF Good Questions: Black Curtains with White Chandeliers on Them?

5-23-curtains1.jpgAT:SF, On the television show "The Biggest Loser" there are curtains in Mark and Jay's room (the Black room) at the Ranch that are black with white chandeliers on them. The chandeliers are similar to the Blik wall decals. Do you know where to get these curtains? I have a black and white family room and would love to find these curtains. Thanks!

Michelle,

How about these curtains which tealtown makes and sells on Etsy, and which can be customized?

Anyone else?

Michelle,
I'm one of the camera operators on The Biggest Loser and after I saw your post, I walked over to the art department and asked them where they got the curtains from. The woman who bought the material wasn't in today, but another art department staffer said the curtains were made from fabric found in a shop in the fashion district of downtown LA (if you haven't been to that part of Los Angeles, it's where one can find a great variety of clothes, shoes and fabric for cheap). If you're interested, I'll ask her next week if she can remember the name of the shop.

If nobody else is going to say it:

Ornate chandeliers are beautiful. Putting pictures of ornate chandeliers on random junk is pointless. Chandelier curtains, chandelier pillows, chandelier wall decals, notebooks, plates, lunchboxes, toilets and mousepads. What's the point?

The NYT already did an article on how this was out-of-hand six months ago. I'd say this trend is out, but it was never in to begin with.

Just save up for a real chandelier. That's what I'm doing.

Nesser - I'd love to know which shop, thanks!

John M. - I appreciate your candor and understand where you're coming from. The curtains I'm looking for are much more like a toile pattern -- and, really, what's more timeless than toile? Also, the space I'm looking to put the curtains is a space that I can use over and over again to sort of transform the room in an inexpensive manner. So, I'm not saving my pennies for a chandelier that I'll regret later, just spending a /-$100 on something I can change whenever the fancy strikes me.

Ew, those are tab-top curtains. Speaking of "out"...

Michelle B -
I spoke to the person who bought the chandelier fabric for Mark and Jay's room and it was from Home Fabrics on Wall St. in downtown Los Angeles. She said there were a few color combinations to choose from. You can probably call them up if you aren't an Angeleno and see if they can ship to you. Hope this helps!
