We've looked at kid's furniture before to find some wonderful compact solutions for small spaces, but desks - and tables in general - can be a little tricky. You'd hate to purchase one online only to find out your legs don't actually fit underneath it. But if you keep in mind that the average desk height is about 29.5 inches, you can find plenty of versions that work perfectly well for adults too...
We found the Truss Library Desk shown at top in 2modern's teen section for $785. At 28" this one is just shy of the average height but is still tall enough to work for most adults.
The beauty shown directly above is the Offi Wave Writing Desk available through Inquisitive Kid, that clocks in at exactly 29.5" in height. With a price tag of over $1200 it's a bit steep for a kid's room, but it's made for all ages and the compact shape would be perfect for a tiny office corner.
Have you ever decorated a grown-up room with pieces from the kids department? Let us know below.
OMG - are you kidding??? The price is outrageous - not just 'a little pricey'...

hmm... way beyond my price point there! Last winter when I was looking for a desk I fell in love with the shape of the Porter Collector's desk at Pottery Barn (in a pale green color which seems to no longer exist) http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p11148/index.cfm?pkey=cdesks , but it was too expensive for me and also too big for my space. I found the Madeleine writing desk at PBkids http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/zf861/index.cfm?pkey=cdesks-chairs|k which has a similar-enough look, was three hundred dollars cheaper, fit my space better and had more practical drawers. It also came in the pale green color I was looking for (although it also seems no longer to come in green). The height difference between the two was one inch.
Maybe these aren't the best examples of kids furniture being smaller and cheaper than adult furniture, but it does exist.
