Even though we don't have a garage ourselves, we often offer a shoulder to cry on to our friends who do. It seems like it's always the last "room" in the house that gets the TLC it deserves. When we found this post about great tips for organizing your garage, we got really excited. The tips are fantastic! Take a look, after the jump!

Organizing ideas to love:
- Fresh colors on a whimsical checkered pegboard wall
- A bunkbed style ladder on a rail to slide across storage areas
- An old wood hanger used for string and tape
- Cute shelves to store items
- A towel rod to store paper towels within easy reach
- A magnetic strip to hold those tiny drill bits & tools
- Storage lockers to keep things organized
- Tools hanging in plain sight on painted peg boards
- Nails in glass jars
- Drawers painted with chalkboard paint for quick labeling
Right, like anyone is going to get their garage to look like this. Not with a man in the house anyway. Hub would barf if he saw this.

As of last night, my garage now holds my car instead of lots of boxes and painting projects. Victory!
There's still a ton of stuff piled in the corners. And a drop cloth with my unfinished dresser drawers. We have some metal shelves, and we may try to get a few more. The garage is the one place where the landlord really doesn't seem to care about holes in the walls, so I could do a pegboard, but I don't really feel a need to keep the tools out on display like that. No amount of organization is going to give me the space to do large projects and fit the car in, and those are the two biggest competing issues with the garage. At least the car can be moved. And the projects can (should!) be finished.

What's wrong with a girly display of tools and equipment? I would kill to have a garage this organized. I can never find a screwdriver or picture wire when I need it.
Actually, I would kill to have a garage, period.

The neatest garage organization trick that I learned from my grandfather - he took empty baby food jars and nailed the lids under a shelf. The jars could then be screwed into the lid and you could easily see what was in each jar and it didn't take up space on the shelves.
