Don't Buy SFI: Sustainable Forest Certification Gone Bad from Change.org: It appears that the Sustainable Forestry Initiativehas been putting their seal of approval on furniture and paper made from destroyed rainforest. Yikes.

Cold Jumps Arctic 'Fence,' Stoking Winter's Fury from The New York Times: Everything is topsy-turvy this year: the Deep South is experiencing severely cold weather, the Northeast is being battered by yet another snowstorm, while Canada and Greenland have had unseasonably WARM weather, with temperatures 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit above normal.

Google Embeds Wild Flower Seeds in Adsense Letter from TreeHugger: Google has been sending cards that are not only on recycled paper, but also contain embedded wild flower seeds.

100 Percent Renewable Energy Achievable By 2030: Study from Huffington Post: A recently published report in the Energy Policy journal claims that 100 percent renewable energy is possibly by 2030 if the proper measures are taken. And what are those "proper" measures? "We would need to build approximately four million wind turbines, nearly 2 billion solar photovoltaic systems, and about 90,000 solar power plants. The 5 MW wind turbines needed are up to three times the capacity of most of our current wind turbines."

Obama Sets 2035 Clean Electricity Target from Mother Nature Network: In his State of the Union address last night, President Obama set a target for power plants to produce mostly clean electricity by 2035, including power from sources like clean coal and natural gas.
