Location: Brentwood — Los Angeles, California
My husband and I fell in love with the bright green door to our condo 6 years ago and immediately knew it was the home for us. It was an incredibly unique building in the incredibly traditional Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. As a stylist and interior designer, I am constantly using our home as my "canvas"; always experimenting with different looks, be it new wallpaper, art, furniture, color or fabric. My husband is a comedian/comedy writer so — in addition to looking great — the use of colorful and playful items in the home reflects his "colorful" personality. My constant experimentation fuels my creativity, but can frustrate my husband. Every time I change something I promise him it will be last time — knowing full well it won't be! I've been fortunate enough to be able to revolve each room around a fantastic piece of art "on loan" from my husband's parents. The exciting challenge is to make the family heirlooms/art be the focal point, and to create a contemporary and fresh environment around them. The bedroom art was certainly the biggest challenge, but I was elated with the sophisticated design that evolved around such an abstract piece of art.
