Doilies - a instant visual throwback to a much earlier age of home decor - get the modern pendant treatment in this handmade lamp by upcycling designer Shannon South. She used her collection of vintage crochet doilies to complete the project. The most beautiful part? The patterns it creates on the walls when lit; jump below to see for yourself...

The lamp is a prototype and Shannon is thinking of adding it to her reMade USA line of home good. More info and photos at: Shannon South

Lovely! I want one.
I love a good lamp-thrown wall pattern but I think the aggressiveness of this one might drive me bonkers.
Is this made the same way as the DIY hemp twine pendant - with a balloon and spray adhesive? I still have that one on my to-try list.
Very pretty!!
I'm inclined to agree with EC - so many different patterns on the wall might make me dizzy.
But the concept is great - perhaps made with an old lace tablecloth to tone it down a bit?
i think it looks really nice though agree with EC that the shadow pattern might be a bit much. maybe if there were other primary light sources so it wasn't quite as forceful. it is very pretty though!
Totally awesome. A lower wattage or more diffuse bulb might make the patterns more subtle. I personally love it.
That is lovely, though the pattern looks a bit strong when cast on the walls/ceiling at night though I can't tell if it's the photography, bulb or the fact that everything else is off. Perhaps a dimmer switch and a lower watt bulb would do the trick.
Crazy awesome! I lovvvvve it.
If anyone wants instructions, Its been on ravelry since 2009.
