Share Your Garden Using Veggie Trader

Visiting my mother in the summer usually means returning home with bags full of tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, and whatever else she happens to be growing in her vegetable garden. She always has too much produce ... way more than she and my dad could ever eat on their own.

What would she do if she didn't have me to haul off half her veggies? She'd continue sharing with the neighbors .. but she could also try Veggie Trader, a web site that allows users to sell, buy, and trade their garden's bounty with others.

Veggie Trader probably wouldn't be very useful for my mom -- she has plenty of people who are more than happy to take her extra tomatoes. But, for people who are overrun with produce, with few people to give it to, this could be great.

Registering is easy (took me about 30 seconds) and free. Once you're registered, you can sign in and browse for people selling fruit and veggies in your neighborhood or post what you have to offer.

It doesn't look like there's much happening in our neighborhood yet, but we think this is a great idea and hope it takes off.

Would you use a site like this?
