There is something comforting about crisp white bed linens. They feel clean and fresh and literally resemble fluffy white clouds that invite deep sleep. But, a classic white bed can also be boring if not placed in the right design context. Dark walls provide a stark contrast that make white bedding look sophisticated and even bold.
There are practical reasons for white bedding that can rival its aesthetic appeal. If you're not afraid of using a bit of bleach, almost any stain can easily be erased with just one wash.
Also, a big white bed in the middle of a darker room can make a space look larger than it really is because the lightness draws the eye to the center of the room while the walls seem more recessed. Not to mention, darker walls can create an intimate and enclosed space that is more conducive to sleep than a bright bedroom. Although, this look probably works best in a room with ample light. There is certainly an incentive to avoid a bright light in the bedrooms of those who like to sleep-in beyond sunrise.

I love this look, plan on using it in my bedrooms.
dark rooms or not, there is nothing like clean white crisp white bedding in any room.
This is an elegant, simple, masculine look that I really like. I wish I wasn't a renter and could embrace the dark paint!
This is definitely a look that I love and I think my husband would agree to as well (no florals!). I've never done it because I know how lazy I can be with washing duvet covers and I have a black cat and now a toddler. Maybe some day. . .
LOVE these, esp the first 3. You are so right about white beds and dark walls.
This is the look I'm hoping to achieve. Dark gray walls, with snow white down comforter. Now if I could only find a queen sized white, down- alternative comforter (darn allergies), for less than $100...
I usually use only white bedding. However, I recently purchased flannel sheets and duvet covers in a black and white ticking stripe. :)
I recently made the switch to all white bedding, but am already ready for a change. I don't what it is, but I just prefer to surround myself with rich colors and patterns.
Studioren: check out the company store. It's here in Wisconsin and they have great prices
@bbqueen...thanks for the info.
I love this look. But I also love the look of fresh, white bed linens in a lighter room, too. I've sort of just always felt that (for me) there's something extra relaxing about a plain color in bed at night rather than a jarring pattern. Which is saying a lot because I'm a pattern freak. I tend to keep my basics neutral and then I can change stuff around as I wish/my tastes change. I love the look of white linens!
Where can I find this bedding? I'm in love with the very last comforter and want to know where to go to buy it!
I too must know where this last bedding is from--please let me know so I can buy it for my brand new home!! Love this site!
does anyone know where I can get the bedding in the last photo or something similar?
