When we last wrote about Vancouver designer Brent Comber in 2009, he had turned bundles of twigs and sticks into a unique line of alder wood furniture. Now he's back with a new collection, Shattered, that shows off his skill for reassembling scraps.Comber gathers wood odds and ends and creates random patterns by splitting, assembling, and juxtaposing different sizes, shapes, and grain patterns. The resulting designs resemble puzzle pieces with an orderly yet chaotic feel.
The Shattered collection features a square and a rectangle shape that can be used interchangeably as seating or tables. The line is made from Douglas fir and comes in natural, clear and scorched wood finishes.
