This 52 square meter (560 square feet) private home in Japan was designed to artfully store the client's massive collection of books. With pine shelves covering every wall surface, the open-plan home is a bibliophile's dream!
Like a giant grid, the whole plan of the house (including furnishings) was based on the scale of the shelving.
Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio designed a dome-like wooden roof and a clay exterior to help keep the book collection at the proper humidity level.

All I can think of is: Oh, all that dusting to do!
ok, that is just too cool.
It's nice, but he needs more books.
Visually appealing, yes. Nightmare to dust, yes.
Oh this is just fantastic!
The smooth, monochromatic, neutral, pale wood makes the space look peaceful and traditional.
It looks like living in corrugated cardboard.
WOW!
I'm with K1tsun3, nice but needs more books.
I wouldn't want to dust it, and I wouldn't want to heat/cool it, but it is beautiful.
this reminds me of the Shiba Ryotaro Memorial Museum designed by Tadao Ando.

Also another kids book museum by him: http://shigurashi.exblog.jp/1599049/
the model reminds me of Eschers infinite staircase.
For some odd reason I feel the need to sneeze.
OMG, I thought the 30 shelves in my 500 square foot apartment was too much. I have been humbled.
where's the kitchen?
Love the Arabic calligraphy, hate the dust!
Not THIS bibliophile... I'd dream of less clutter. If my space were that small, I'd want my books in cabinets with floor-to-ceiling doors that give the illusion of solid walls. I love my books, but that (with the shelves) is too much visual stimulation for me.
well, it makes me dizzy
If ever a guy needed an ebook reader, it is this guy :)
I can't breath when I look at this place.
Agree with the eReader comment.
This ain't books. THIS is:

OMG! I'd be a nervous wreck living with all that visual clutter!
Is it just me or does the floor suddenly become a dining room table? If so...GROSS!!
Reminds me of the boiler room in Spirited Away!

I wonder if they've treated the wood in any special way -- wood is not great for books or other paper products. It's highly acidic, which is as much of a threat to the books as humidity. Eventually yellows, brittles, and destroys the books.
