Shelfbar

Shelfbar

How many of us would even ponder attempting the feat above with their home shelving? Not I, lest I find myself with injured limbs, a damaged wall, and a nomination for nitwit of the year. But the makers of Shelfbar believe their wire floating shelf system is so well designed, they've tested them using human weight loads as impressively illustrated above (they clearly recommend not attempting mimicking the stunt for safety reasons, of course).

Shelfbar use industrial strength wiring that only needs 60mm drilling depth in plasterboard or stud walls to create a nearly invisible book and accessory wall storage solution that would look great in a modern minimal space. We not only like the load bearing strength of these shelves, but also the lack of visible brackets and the option for rounded or straight edge MDF shelves. Installation looks fairly easy and a three shelf system comes in at a reasonable $110. Unfortunately we haven't heard back from Shelfbar reps about whether they'll ship to the US or not, but will report back with notice.
