Name: Shell
Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
My apartment is my first place and I've furnished and decorated it almost entirely on my own (with a little help with my father the tool-guy). The apartment is a 3 and a half located on the top floor of a 4 story building. It's beautifully bright and sunny and was perfect for me to carry out what I call my "Caribbean Vision". I wanted the place to make me feel the calm and relaxation of the beach community I visited recently.
I chose furniture with straight and simple smooth lines and a color scheme that feels at once warm and cool — lots of greens, yellows and blues. Every room has a defining accent wall that livens it up. I even finished the balcony with removable wooden tiles to enhance the feeling of a contemporary island city getaway. When I walk into my home I instantly feel happy and relaxed, just like I do on vacation!
Thanks Shell!

Love the bright colors on the walls! I don't even like the color blue and yet in your bathroom, it looks lively, especially next to the shower curtain which has blue in the print.
Vibrant!
That "3 and a half" definition for apartments isn't common outside of the province. That's a 1-bedroom?
Your apartment looks lovely! Where did you get the shower curtain?
ditto about the shower curtain!
i love all the different lighting. not only the lamps, but the candles and even the sunlight.
it's very moody. love it!
I'd love to know about the shower curtain too - my bathroom is the same blue!
Lovely space - especially the bathroom!
House Tour, please!
ADORABLE... concrats
Love it! Fellow Montrealer here :)--well, for the past two years, anyway. Brilliant idea to use the wood tiles on the balcony.
Ditto about the tiles on the balcony. Did you get the ones from Ikea or Canadian Tire?
"That "3 and a half" definition for apartments isn't common outside of the province. That's a 1-bedroom?"
I agree - the op should have been a little more clear about this.
Very nice and warm. It's crazy how Montreal's apartments are so easily recognizable ... and I can't quite say why.
A 3 and a half, is a one bedroom apt with a living room and a kitchen (that makes 3 rooms) + the half which is the bathroom.
In Quebec, all apartments are defined by this "rule".
The kitchen always counts as one room, and the bathroom as the half.
So colourful, lovely
Love your choice of colors. Vibrant, but not overwhelming. Also love the balcony!
Boy oh boy oh boy. I sure like this.
Where did you purchase that gorgeous shower curtain? And can we have a house tour, please??
PS: High-five to all the fellow Montrealers!
ha ha! I knew the moment I read it that the 3 1/2 would confuse them all. We (Québécois) count the bathroom as a half room for some unknown reason. So that would be a 1 bedroom yes.
Oh, I'm jealous! I live in California and my apartment doesn't look this tropical! But I'm working on it, of course I can't paint my walls.
Kudos!
I never would've guessed this home's in Canada--it really does feel delightfully tropical! I love high the contrast bright colors--it's all very pretty.
I think the shower curtain came from this website: http://www.myuniqueshowercurtains.com
I'm shocked they let you paint. Good for you. I especially like the living room color.
