Inspiration for my palette:
I live on an island called Penang in Malaysia so I'm particularly drawn to blues, greens and other nature inspired colors. The coolness of these colors contrast beautifully with tangerine, sunny yellow, and vibrant red from the world heritage buildings that can be found around my hometown.
Colors used in my room:
I've always love cool colors and blue was a long-standing favourite of mine. A couple of years ago I fell in love with turquoise and just couldn't get enough of it, so I painted my entryway the color Turkish Tile by Nippon paint which can be seen from my kitchen. I used white and grey throughout the area with lots of color pops like red, turquoise, and yellow from kitchen items. The retro-inspired blue tiles really add some dimension to the white cabinets and light grey counter tops.
Tips for using color successfully:
Never be afraid to use colors! Different colors create different emotions. Even though my best tip is to use a neutral light background so the accent colors really pop, using very dark moody colors like deep teal and dark navy will give a totally different mind-blowing feel to a room. I would love to try that one day, however, for the time being, I've settled for an accent wall in turquoise at entryway, and deep sea blue at my walkway.
