How can we not cover a store that has committed itself to plant one tree for every item sold in their store (in partnership with Trees for the Future)? The Visionary Boutique located on Melrose, just down the street from the Pacific Design Center, was started by Magda Rod, who began with the eco-fashion label Visionary by Wildchild Wear and has recently extended to offering a selection of home accessories, bath and body products , fine art, baby items, toys, eco friendly cleaning products, books and gifts, all chosen with an eco-conscious mind...

All items at The Visionary Boutique meet a minimum of one of the following criteria: organic, inspired by nature, recycled, local, earth friendly, handcrafted, fair trade, cruelty free, enlightening, or promotes “what the world needs now: peace & love". This philosophy even extends to details inside the store: each item comes with a flower seed embedded into a plantable hangtag (a biodegradable and beautifying idea!), the store's fixtures were built out with reclaimed wood from a building that was deconstructed in Beverly Hills, the metal work was pre-fabricated in Oakland by Bay area artist Brook Bannister, and the pieces were assembled and installed on site, the interior was painted with no voc paint and the interior was designed to utilise the daylight to minimize energy usage, complimented with Mio design recycled aluminum pendant lamps. Inside and out, the store practices what it preaches. The Visionary Boutique was also recently shot for an episode for the Planet Green/Discovery Channel show, Alter Eco, so keep an eye out for that.

”Visionary is an opportunity to plant the seeds of love and compassion into the hearts and minds of our little ones, and help all people to think about what they can do to become part of the solution,” states Magda . “It’s about living and raising kids in such a way that it becomes second nature to take care of the planet and each other. We have quite a bit to offer in the home decor area, such as lamps, fine art, terraruims, a flat panel TV console, and even a composter made to fit in a kitchen cabinet. We also offer many smaller items for the home including soy candles, biodegradable cleaning products, frames, table top, and so much more. Then there is the rest of the store stocked with items for women, men, babies, kids and great gifts as well."
