Beauty And A Beat - Justin Bieber, ft. Nicki Minaj

Happy New Year! After being in the dark for years, I just stumbled across this song and video by Justin Bieber and..... well... I GET IT. I like it. It's infectious, with just the right amount of naievete, showmanship, and chutzpa. And Niki Minaj is a great foil. Enjoy! NOTE: Apologies for ruffling so many feathers! I know almost nothing about Justin Bieber. This is a just a find from a few days ago and comes from that side of myself that loves pop music when it's really good pop music. :)

What the shit.
The one place I come to escape the Justin Beiber/trashy Kardashians/"insert annoying celebrity here" bombardment and now you have a youtube video of Justin Beiber. Good grief!

Sorry for the double post, not sure how it happened.
I agree Ilovechairs.
Last place I expected to see Justin's shit. O___o
I'm with Ozzy Osbourne on this one... what's a Bieber?
Posting something associated with Justin Bieber has significantly lowered my opinion of Apartment Therapy. Seriously, what does this have to do with design or anything home related?
Please don't post this kind of thing again. Thx.
Not even remotely connected to art or design. Recommend you edit. Thank you.
I concur. JB? Really? I don't think the majority of AP followers are fourteen year olds.
He got the right idea by muting the YouTube video.
What...????? I came onto AT to get a sweet dose of 'let's start the new year off with some great ideas!' and I get a video of the Beeb? I think I'll go back to bed...:(
What the %#$@? Take it down ahhhh!!! Put up a Sinatra video immediately to correct your wrong doing.
Something is wrong here
I don't hate JB, but what is this doing here? It's not April 1st yet.
Some people are getting their new year off to a snarky start! If you don't like what's-his-name, just skip over it and don't listen. There's enough negative energy in this world without us adding any more to it unnecessarily.
There's enough sensationalism in the world without having a beloved site tarnished by adding unnecessarily to it.
No. Just no.
I agree with pretty much everyone else. Did your 13-year-old access your laptop?
Wow, me and 127 million other people have never seen this! Thank you for posting!
Back to Pinterest...
Go home Apartment Therapy. You are drunk.
@ilovechairs - I find it offensive that so many people are hating on Justin Bieber, and especially that you put Justin Bieber in the same category as the Kardashian sh*ts. I don't listen to his music, and he's a pop star, yes, but the kid CAN SING, he writes his own music, grew up on the guitar, and got a recording deal the old fashioned way - by playing a lot in public (he was then discovered on youtube) and NOT by winning one of those ridiculous 'talent' shows, i.e. American Idol, X Factor, etc. etc. etc. The Kardashians are a family of talentless plastic surgery junkies who have sex on film and make a mockery of love and marriage and are millionaires for no reason.
I think Maxwell's finds are fun and interesting, if you don't share his taste, so what - scroll down.
Not on this site please. Gross, gross...gross!
It may a recommendation based on his tastes, but this has absolutely nothing to do with the scope of this site. How about recommendations actually relevant to Apartment Therapy? This is ridiculous. I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought "What the hell?"
Ugh. Really, what the actual hell?
wow folks. I guess I struck a funky chord on that one, but this was just a left field find for New Year's Day to break out of what I usually do and, believe it or not, I don't think he's trashy - just a young talented pop star - and am totally surprised by so much negativity. You don't have to like it, but you also don't have to hate it.
I'm sorry if this is TOO out of place, but I LIKE to mix it up every once in a blue moon.
And beneath all my high standards and love for design, there's a little kid that liked/likes Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, George Michael and all those kings and queens of the pop world when they really rock their stuff.
Also, I found this clip of Justin Bieber singing acoustic, which is also impressive. This boys got some good pipes on him.
C'mon y'all, if *having* to glance at a picture of the Biebs is a *problem*...well, I'd call that a pretty 1st World *problem*. 2013 = it's OK to have a giggle!
Maxwell, you should never have to apologize for your taste on Apartment Therapy! If you like something, share it - art is subjective.
Aw who cares?? No likey, no watch-y, ya know? It's ONE post ;-)
And I agree with Heather....
Personally, I'm sick of chevron stripes and posters with cutesy messages, so I make a point not to click on the posts in which they are obviously featured. Is someone forcing you folks to watch the video just because it's on the list here?
Happy New Year, Maxwell. While I don't buy or spend time on any pop music, it's sort of impossible to avoid and I would agree with you that Bieber is one of the better practitioners of the genre. I feel the same way about him that I felt about Michael Jackson ... not a fan, we could do much, much worse.
Ugh. Enough said.
Nothing wrong with a bit of high-energy summery fun on a cold January day. Happy New Year all!
I have noticed in the past that a very small portion of the community on this blog can come across as arrogant, aggressive, and narrow in taste. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Maxwell and his team, but the comment pages periodically look like they are populated by weak-minded social climbers from the Victorian era.
I love every single one of the readers of this blog who did not complain about Justin Bieber. I hope the rest of you will go elsewhere to whine. You do not contribute anything positive to this community. I love this community, and you few complainers stick out.
Maxwell, I realize you will probably have to avoid this kind of post going forward to hold on to the kinds of readers who profess that this single post has "significantly lowered" their opinions of this blog, but you do not have anything for which you need to apologize.
Your blog is as great as it ever was.
I don't like Bieber's music normally, but I clicked on the link anyways, and I enjoyed the song. This is not the first time I thought I disliked something and found out via your blog that I actually liked it in a particular permutation.
It's considered a mark of good taste (and a positive contribution to society) in some circles to openly insult Justin Bieber as if he is an inanimate object rather than a person. It makes some people feel proud for some reason. You just accidentally stumbled into it. I am sorry that a small percentage of your readership has degraded to this level, but they do not represent the mass of us who have been reading your blog every day for years. The presence of a singer we may not like does not offend us to the point of attempting to shame you into adopting a narrower range of taste.
Keep up the great work, please, and ignore those few readers. Post whatever you want on here. That's what made me fall in love with this place.
FTS.
I clicked on the link simply because I was curious how and why this post made it onto AT. I would never have sought out this video or agreed to view it otherwise. I thought it was fun and I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for providing an opportunity to experience something I otherwise wouldn't have.
What a post to start the year. The good news is, it can only go uphill from here.
I love AT and think Maxwell and friends have great taste, so I check out the video. While it's not the greatest song/video ever made, it was fun to look at with great production values and a mildly catchy tune. There are a lot of amazing artists out there who could have used a boost from a huge blog such as apartment therapy...so that's my only complaint..that this one artist was given so much more publicity than he already has. That being said, I then clicked on the acoustic link suggested by Maxwell of Justin singing, "All Around the World" and WOW! I really liked that and now I do get what all the fuss is about. Great voice, adorable and loads of charisma. Will I ever buy a Justin Bieber song? I doubt it, but that was really good and impressive.
And yes, people can be kinda snide on the comments. With so much negativity out there in the world, wouldn't it be refreshing to hear positive, uplifting and encouraging rather than cynical, mean, and narrow minded? I think so.
Happy 2013. Blessing to you all.
I'm an AT reader, and had never heard this song and I appreciate Maxwell posting it. If you don't like it, then scroll past it, and it only wasted 0.0125 seconds of your time. Take your snarky attitude elsewhere because the elitist attitude gets you nowhere and it certainly doesn't make you better than someone who enjoys pop music sometimes (low quality, high quality, whatever). The world doesn't revolve around you and there is enough snark and hatred in this world without yours over a little bit of Justin Bieber on apartment therapy. I appreciate all the positive comments on here, bringing some positivity into an increasingly negative world., Maxwell I enjoy your posts, thanks for posting this! Happy New Year!
Sheesh. AT, I would appreciate if you could refrain from posting similar stuff in the future. For now, I will assume the article about Bieber (really, who cares about Bieber?!?) has been posted here by mistake.
AT needs to stick to design. Not post pop videos, weekend advice columns about boyfriends watching porn, etc.
Just design.
Haha! Thanks for inciting a hilarious comments section. I, for one, enjoyed the unexpected selection.
Funny! Not sure how it was decreed that "Stuff I find, like for myself and would recommend to a client" CANNOT include music; slightly more concerned by those who declared that music is NOT art / has nothing to do with design. Hmmmm... Let's tiptoe quietly out of their padded cells and get back to dancing while we work. Even AT agrees.
Hilarious! I just had to sign up so that I could leave a comment. I absolutely love that you put this video up. Not suffering from Bieber Fever myself, but you know what....watching the videos gave him a bit more credit in my opinion. Harmless. All of the naysayers should hopefully have recovered from their new years hangovers and grumpies by now. Keep up the good work, I love your blog.
