Garment Dyed Linen Bedding
• from $40 - on sale now
• Restoration Hardware
Late to the office this morning after visiting my daughter's school, I had a lot of ideas for todays daily find, BUT when my officemate asked for a linen sheet recommendation, I jumped on it. Linen sheets are super comfortable and have come back into style of late. They are also usually all very expensive compared to regular cotton sheets. While I love Matteo, Eileen Fisher for Garnet Hill, Libeco and RoughLinen, for price right now, you can't beat Resto. They seem to have broken Belgian knuckles to get the price down. While they have a lot of linen sheets, I like the Garment Dyed which is on partial sale right now. If you're ready to make your bed crazy comfortable for Valentine's day, this is a great place to start.

I don't know what the deal is with the Restoration Hardware linen sheets, but the ones I bought shredded in the laundry within a year of buying. And I had to wash them a lot the first year, it took about 40 washings to get them to soften up. They also pill. That's why I upgraded to RoughLinen, which were soft from day one and so far, not so much as a pulled thread.
What do people think of the Ikea duvet covers of 140 count linen that they came out with in the last six months? I have been looking around and for the money and color, Ikea seems not bad. I know they are always going to look wrinkly but don't mind as that looks a bit french to me.
I don't know about the linen sheets, but I went into a store today to see swatches of the garment died matelesse quilt today (shown above, and it's cotton) and WOW not only is it soft, it's just gorgeous. The store near me is going to have them in stock soon, so I'm just waiting for a sale so I can save $100 on the 25% discount and no shipping. yay!
Portlandrules, I haven't tried the Ikea linen, but I definitely would. I've had good luck with Ikea duvets.
Here is a great spoiler alert: the restoration bespoke bedding collection IS Matteo. Last year I was told at their downtown LA showroom that the finishing of the sheets for Resto isn't as nice, but as someone who is looking for that amazing material, I doubt I will care.
Parnassus-interesting, I have had the same issue as of late with my Matteo sheets-I am convinced it is the different washing machine I am using.
We were just about to place an order with RH but read these reviews. Checked out Rough Linen - looks great but sad they don't have the colors that RH has. Anyone have better quality than RH but have their colors? Looking for a duvet color in Orchid (light purple) and sheets in grey.
To the person who asked about the Ikea linen duvet cover. I felt one in the store before buying it and it seemed fine, but then i bought it (then washed in warm, tumble-dried on gentle for 10, ironed while damp and let air dry the rest of the way), put it on my duvet and tried to sleep under it. Omg, ouch. It actually hurts. Looks very pretty though. I heard in general linen softens up with each wash, but washing/dry/iron this thing is not fun, so save up and get a better one. Unless it's just for looks, in which case this one is nice.
