Black Dot Coat Hooks by Tveit & Tornøe
• $149
• Design Within Reach
My friend Kristina Rinaldi (a fab interior designer) just reminded me about these guys. I've always liked these highly sculptural coat hooks and fantasised about covering the good part of a wall by a door with them. I haven't had the space to do it yet, but I've got time.
In the meantime, Tveit & Tornøe have released their Dots in colors (yellow and black), and the black, in particular, are stunning. Made of solid oak (Natural Dots) or solid ash (Yellow and Black Dots), one set comes with one large, one medium and three small.

A little crazy price wise for what appears to be large scale drawer pulls... DWR, although beautiful, always seems to fail on the quality to price ratio. Maybe just my opinion but I have yet to be impressed with anything I have picked up there.
Agree. $150 for THAT is absolutely ridiculous. Are they made of something precious and rare? If so, maybe they just need to make some out of normal stuff and charge a tenth of that.
I thought at first it was an article about drawer knobs being repurposed as coat hooks! You'd have to be "dotty" to pay that kind of money for these! (Sorry, but you get my point).
I couldn't agree more with the other posters. That price is laughable. I made something similar using wooden knobs (from HD) that are the same shape as those pictured. I dipped them in plasti-dip, but you could just as easily paint them. They look really cool and only cost about $1.50 each. Silly DWR!
you can get simple and cheap wooden knobs at a hardware store. 2" size is 2 bucks.
in fact i oiled them and used them to turn my grey Hemnes wardrobe from uuugly to scand-tastic.
oil them, paint them whatever... just don't buy this obscenely overpriced item, sheesh!
i find all the recommendations of must-have items on AT to be a tad indulgent.
WTF?! Are you kidding me with that?! Wow.
Just... wow. Unless those are made of space rock, they're about $145 overpriced. (Even then, I'd say $140.)
RE: "i find all the recommendations of must-have items on AT to be a tad indulgent."
They must get a kick back on a lot of this crap. Since a lot of the site is promoting DIY, I can't understand why this would be a "must have" unless they were getting paid to say so. Just a thought...
I suspect you are correct, Detex.
Cute idea if you move the decimal point over to the left a bit; I'd pay a buck fifty.
What an absurd price -- like much of DWR's stuff. I pass a Design Within Reach store on my walk to the hairdresser's and every time I see the store name on its windows, I think, "Design Within WHOSE reach? Not mine."
why can't we have a like button on AT?
love everyone's level headed, realistic replies here.
