Visiting the remarkable Ann Hamilton show at the Central Park Armory this weekend, I spotted the performers (who read endlessly and silently write letters in long, long sittings) drinking water from a shape of Weck Jar I hadn't seen before. The Big Gulp of the German jar world, the 3/4 Liter Mold Jar is a nice big glass for water, beer or juice or an oversized solution to storing pencils, straws or anything like that. These jars are just beautiful in any size, and this is a new one for me.

Can you freeze liquids in these jars?
Matilda - Yes! These are borosilicate glass, so they can handle freezing, leaving adequate room for expansion, of course. The Weck website also has also has small snap on plastic lids you can buy for easier storage. There is some info on freezing things in these jars on their website, too.
These jars are great for canning! They are able to stack unlike the ball jars. However you should buy the weck jar tongs since the ball jar tongs that come in most kits are way to narrow to allow you to move jars safely.
