I just thought this was cool (and I love Shigeru Ban). A brand new design from Ban and Fontana Arte, his Yumi floor lamp is super thin (10mm thick) and made of LED's sunk into a carbon fiber wand that extends up from a metal base on the floor.

"Floor lamp. Black structure in composite material coated with carbon fibre. Black lacquered metal base. Power cables sunk into the structure. Direct light emission. Electronic power unit included."
