We checked them out, and here is our take:
1. their website is approachable, friendly and easy to use
2. they are a family run business, and it shows in a positive way
3. their prices are very good
4. you can make mistakes online, so we would experiment the first time
We used their interface to upload a photograph from our own file and built a mat and frame around it. It was easy to do and the total price was $18 (hard to beat). One catch, however, is that they only sell their frames with plexi-glass.
American Frame also has what they call an Art Shop, which allows you to upload digital images to their servers where they will print them and frame them for you. If you wanted to give photographs as gifts, for example, they could print and frame twenty pictures and then mail them to your list.
If you like self framing and do alot of it, we give this resource a thumbs up. (Thanks, Lori! First published 2004-12-17)
