Former owner Don Riggott, now retired, started the architectural and salvage business more than 30 years ago when he began selling stained glass windows at flea markets and to collectors. "Back then it was definitely a one man show," reflects Riggott.
Today things have changed considerably from when Riggott would search out buildings ready for destruction, purchase the salvage rights and then remove the materials by himself.
The staff at Architectural Antiques takes great satisfaction in salvaging items, many of them historic and most that would otherwise have been destroyed or simply delivered to a local landfill. They take pride in finding creative ways to reuse and integrate antique salvaged architectural elements. They strive to make an impact on the very communities where many buildings are demolished.
