Remi Loca and Susy Bell
Bebop Design could arguably be categorized as either a revamped or newly opened shop. The store actually operated shortly at an awkward, hidden location which practically required an Oceanic Airlines flight to find.
But recently, owners Remi Loca and Susy Bell took advantage of a vacancy and moved their business into one of the cute, high peak roofed storefronts in Silver Lake's vibrant Sunset Junction, relaunching with a more accessible and inviting location. And thankfully so, or we might have missed out on the well curated selection inside this small gem of a shop, brimming with Parisian midcentury modern items, all at reasonable prices…
With plenty of midcentury furniture dealers in Silver Lake and Echo Park, what distinguishes Bebop Design's selection is the playful and eclectic character of their pieces, sourced domestically and from European sources, all reflecting the tastes of the owners, one an architecture student and the other a Parisian antiques dealer. Many of the pieces aren't perfect in condition, with sleight hints of age and use evident. But the vintage patina and imperfections only endeared us more to many of the lighting pieces, furnishings and decorative accessories that proudly wore the wear of untold pasts, with most everything reasonably priced.
Shoppers looking for unique lamps and lights will especially find Bebop's selection enticing, as Remi and Susy seem to particularly have a soft spot for illumination of all sorts, styles ranging from late 60's French mod to salvaged-chic (a couple of pieces have haunted us enough that we're likely going to drop in with the hopes nobody swiped our favourites). Susy mentioned she was an Apartment Therapy reader herself, so be sure to tell her and Remi you dropped in after reading about their shop here!
