Our spring cleaning coverage here on AT:Chicago wouldn't be complete without a local resource for an indispensable cleaning tool - the vacuum. Established in 1983, Best Vacuum is a very good source for vacuums (naturally) and other household appliances. The focus in on high quality, high end machines - the brand names they carry are known for performance. They have been an authorized dealer for Miele for over 20 years, and their vacuum line is featured prominently in the shop. When we stopped in on Sunday, a couple were trying out a Miele model and a Sebo, as a knowledgeable salesman gave the pros and cons and price differences of each model and its expendable accessories (filters, bags, etc) - it seemed to be a low pressure but highly informational sales experience. In addition to Miele and Sebo, the shop carries vacuums from Bosch (shown at left), Dyson and other manufacturers. All of the accessories for these machines are stocked and available at Best Vacuum as well. The shop is not large - it is a local, small business, but the selection is wide - check out the website for all of the models available. We were glad to find that Best Vacuum also specializes in air purifiers. The brands they carry include: Airfree, Air-O-Swiss, IQ Air, Blue Air and Sharp. As we learn more about indoor air quality and start to consider a possible purchase, it's good to know that a wide selection is available locally. The owner started out as a repair person, so of course, service is also available. For readers outside of Chicago, Best Vacuum offers much of their inventory online, often with free shipping.
