The Chicago Honey Co-Op is one of our favorite small local organizations for a few reasons: 1) they provide job training and work for hard-to-employ Chicagoans, 2) they operate a chemical-free apiary in the urban North Lawn neighborhood, and 3) they make really good products. We've tried their honey, candles, and body products—it's well made, sweet smelling stuff. They sell their products through local farmers markets, as well as online shops at Etsy and Big Cartel. (For Farmer's Market info, check their online calendar.) They also work with a few local grocers, shops, and restaurants that use and/or sell their honey.
