If you've ever thought, "If only I had access to my very own serger, then I'd have THE perfect shower curtain to make this pink and mint renter's bathroom ready for next year's Small Cool contest," then Common Thread Studio, a unique communal studio concept in South Pasadena, is for you.

Common Thread Studio is a place where people can come to sew using the studio's commercial grade machines, plus do their own silkscreening, with beautifully maintained equipment, lots of elbow room, and the friendly guidance of pros.

Machines can be rented in monthly packages (ideal for design students and start-up designers), by the hour, or used during one of their informative workshops in this lowkey, upbeat, no pressure, but totally inspiring space.

And if July's upcoming season of Project Runway gets you all fired up, or you're itching to get all Andy Warhol, there's a class for that… Common Thread has fashion design classes and silkscreening set-ups... for grown-ups and kids.

The brainchild and labor of love of the lovely Jin Kim, Common Thread is a little outpost of the creative and community spirit that Apartment Therapy readers seem to thrive upon.

And if you're looking for unique place to hold your next event—Bridal Shower, Housewarming party, corporate teambuilding event, singles night, or kid's party, ask Jin about the Common Thread Sew Social. She's hosted successful Socials, along with her first Esty Craft Party.
