It probably comes
as no surprise to you that because of the nature of our work, friends and family often ask us for advice regarding just about anything home-related.
This week, for a family member we found CrossCut Shredding, a Bay Area company that will come to your home (or business) and shred for you.
Ordinarily we'd think this was a bit silly. But when you're talking about several boxes worth of aged bank statements and other documents, really, who has the time and energy? Besides having to shred, you then have to cart the paper off to the recycling center, and you'll probably end up having to buy a new shredder after such heavy-duty use. Sometimes it's worth it just to bite the bullet and pay someone else to take care of it for you.
Hayward-based CrossCut Shredding will arrive at your doorstep, take the boxes out to their truck, recycle the documents in front of you, compact them, and take the paper to the recycling center. They'll also provide you with a certificate of destruction.
Pricing? $89 for up to 10 moving boxes. Discounts for large batches.
Because CrossCut services the DMV's multiple locations, they'll travel just about anywhere in the Greater Bay Area. (If you live in the boonies, however, the pricing may be higher.)
The company is also green certified. They recycle over 1000 tons of paper per year, use biodiesel truck fuel and wind-powered energy credits, and partner with vendors who use soy-based inks, recycled product materials, and wind power.
