Electronics University. A store that educates us before we buy, what a great idea. Crutchfield is an online electronics retailer that has grown from a small car stereo mail-order company into a thriving electronics business, both online and in Charlottesville, Virginia. (Home of the University of Virginia. Wahoowa.)
What we like about a small business that has developed a web presence, is that it often retains the personal attention that much of the web lacks. Crutchfield is no exception, with its highly praised customer service and wealth of educational information on its site. We really like the entirely separate website, Crutchfield Advisor, dedicated to educating us about all things audio/visual. There's even how-to and installation videos to help us once we've bought something. We think Crutchfield is a great online store and web resource.
Time Magazine agrees, listing Crutchfield as one of the Best Electronics Top 50 Sites. They tout Crutchfield as, "the best place to shop for (and buy) consumer electronics, particularly home theater (and any other area that's got you confused). The buying guides will teach you what you need to know to make smart purchasing decisions, and the customer service is excellent." We couldn't agree more.
