Doug was born in an air raid shelter in the heart of London in 1944 and immigrated to Australia in the early 1960's, he has spent the last 30 odd years being a collector of all things unique and ecclectic and after retiring from his last business he decided to give his real passion a go.
The business was established in July 2003 and for the first two and a half years it operated from a small section of the warehouse, as a hobby, in the back corner.
If you've ever thought 'I'd love an old ladder' or even 'I'd love a pair of stuffed birds' and then stopped to wonder, 'Where on earth am I going to find one?' Chances are you'll find it here.
Doug Up On Bourke is in fact Doug Hutchinson trading with his family on Bourke Street in Waterloo, NSW and the showroom is something to behold. Old curiosities are given new life and it is surprising what you can find in this amazing shop.
They are still working on their online store but you can window shop right now in their comprehensive gallery. Most prices are on application but if you're in the area you can just stop by and lose yourself for a day.
