Store History

  • Founded by: Jesse Finkelstein and Katie King
  • Headquarters: New York, NY

Jesse Finkelstein and Katie King — the two designers behind up-and-coming New York label JF & Son — just opened a new shop at 56 University Place. The February opening of their brick and mortar location coincided with the launch of their new home collection, a mix of pillows, quilts, curtains, and vintage furniture upholstered in the brand's custom-made textiles.

Finkelstein and King have three studios in India, China, and New York. They oversee the production of their pieces in each location, working with hand-weavers in India and collaborating with contemporary designers in New York. In their words, they "own the entire process, from production to sales, creating women's and men's clothing, accessories and home items."

Prices aren't cheap, but they're relatively modest compared to other designer furniture stores. A hand-embroidered pillow sells for $98, while a custom-reupholstered vintage sofa is priced at $2,200. Don't miss their handwoven angora blankets (about $200) and their chromatic quilts ($450) created with artist Ulrike Muller.

In addition to the brick and mortar store, they have a webshop, which is currently being updated for a spring relaunch.
