Markus and Daniel Freitag are two Swiss brothers who started out as graphic designers and found their way into bag-making through a search for the perfect heavy-duty messenger bag.

The first Freitag bags were ones they made for themselves out of a waterproof truck tarpaulin and some old seatbelts. Fast forward 15+ years, and they've got their own international company that sells recycled tarpaulin bags in over 300 stores around the world.

Each Frietag bag is made by removing the tarpaulin, cutting it up, washing it in an XXXL machine, cutting it up again into smaller pieces, and then sewing those pieces together. The process ensures that each bag is unique, waterproof, and made to last.

In recent years, Freitag's branched out from the standard messenger bag into sleeves for laptops, iPads, iPhones, notebooks, and pretty much every popular digital device. These bags aren't cheap, due in part to the labor process, but they're also not crazy expensive. Prices range from around $50 for an iPhone sleeve to $150+ for a messenger bag.

You can buy Freitag products through their online shop or through one of their network stores, which include US shops Flight 001, Zinc Details, and uniform.
