With our new apartment
lease signed and our boxes
packed, we had one thing left to do last weekend: move! Enticed by their biodiesel trucks and competitive rates, we called Southern California's Go Green Moving.
Based in Orange County, Go Green Moving aims to reduce wasteful moving practices by using low-emissions, fuel-efficient trucks powered by biodiesel, along with moving pads made from recycled cotton. The company also partners with Rent A Green Box for customers who wish to rent recycled packing materials like crates.
To schedule the move, we requested a quote online and promptly received an email and telephone call. Rates were competitive with other moving companies we checked and were actually a bit lower than the website-listed local rate of $88/hour for "Two Men and a Biodiesel Truck." (An additional man is listed at $34/hour. Intrastate rates are determined by mileage and weight.)
Moving day was painless (for us, at least!). Our two movers, including foreman Fred Canales, hauled our furniture and boxes up and down two second-story apartments with efficiency and aplomb, especially considering our many boxes of books and precarious stairs. They were careful and professional, and at the end of the day there were no surprise charges or hidden fees. It was a good feeling knowing that our belongings were transported safely and that our move had been made with eco-friendly fuel.
