From Graceful Gardens: <em>"Grace Martinelli; owner/operator of Graceful Gardens, is a young, creative spirit with a deep respect for nature, who strives towards biodiversity and sustainability in all aspects of business and design. Graceful Gardens is based in Brooklyn where we hope to be for many years creating community and a trusted name. After years of gardening in Aspen, the Hamptons and NYC, Grace decided to get formal training at the New York Botanical Garden School of Professional Horticulture.
She studied with the finest experts in the field, and practiced hands on learning from the Gardens horticultural staff and landscape design instructors."</em>
There's a new kid on the block in Northside Williamsburg. Grace Martinelli (who trained at the New York Botanical Garden School of Professional Horticulture) recently opened Graceful Gardens, a combination florist, garden store, and landscaping source. She sells specialty house plants, organic flowers, fertilizer, and garden tools — all with a high-style aesthetic.
In the shop, you'll find apartment plants as well as gift items like terrariums and scented candles. There are modern floral arrangements and bouquets scattered around, and you can hire a florist to work with you for weddings or events.
There's also a green mission behind the store — Graceful Gardens sells locally grown and organic plants, uses recycled and biodegradable packaging, and accepts used nursery pots to send back to growers. In addition to keeping shop, Grace practices horticulture and landscaping, and she can be hired as a garden designer. She specializes in organic gardens, and teaches clients ways to care for their plants without pesticides or herbicides.
