The Green Glass Company
is a small glass studio in Wisconsin that specializes in re-purposing discarded wine and beer bottles into glassware. Using specially engineered machinery, they are able to split a standard wine bottle in two; forming a tumbler from the base and a goblet from the top section.
Their products come in a variety of colors, which isn't too surprising if you've ever noticed the subtle differences in bottle hues.
To spiff things up, the glasses can be frosted or "fired
" with one of their patterns or a customized design. Besides tumblers and goblets, GGC also experiments with vases, votive cups, and coat racks.
Their merchandise is for sale through their website, as well as select stores across the nation. Andersonville's GreenSky Company and a handful of suburban stores are listed as Illinois retailers.
