Located in Fulton Market District, Green Home Chicago is a must stop shop for anyone looking to green their home. Whether you’re looking for paint or tile for your bathroom or a cool piece of reclaimed wood furniture for your living room, this store has something for everyone…
Owner, Karen Kalmek, has created this green boutique to not only be on the cutting edge of design but to also help save the planet. Her vision was for a business that embodies social entrepreneurship, as she puts it to help people “buy something uncommonly beautiful and support community and environment”.
Using a 10-point classification system, Kalmek has stocked her store with a variety of environmentally friendly finishes, cool light fixtures, locally made art and furniture, and several inspirational mock-ups of living rooms and kitchens. Furniture and accessory prices range between $185 - $10,000.
The store is lined with artwork from Gregg Rochester, KS Rives, Dolan Geiman and Jody Riesberg and filled with furniture made by Nevin Peters, Celia Greiner, 2 Point Perspective and Green Sawn. Some of Kalmek’s favorite products are items we've featured on Re-Nest before: Bioglass, Squak Mountain, EcoSmart Fireplaces, Eleek Lighting, Green Planet Paint, and Arzu Rugs.
Green Home Chicago not only serves as a source for sustainable products, they can also help you plan your project. With LEED Accredited designers on staff, they can help you with a range of services from color selections to the full design of interior spaces.
This month is a great time to check out the store, there is a sale starting mid-September for 30 – 50% off most furniture floor models!
