Usually our tastes run pretty modern here, but dollhouses are an exception. Sure we love a modern style dollhouse, but more traditional ones remind us most of our own childhood and the wonder of a miniature home to play with. These by Greenleaf are kits that you assemble and decorate yourselves, but isn't that (at least) half the fun?

Greenleaf has been making dollhouse kits for over fifty years and have a ton to styles to choose from, mostly Victorian style homes, but also a general store, a lighthouse and a mercantile (for Little House on the Prairie enactments, surely). They also sell furniture kits and miniature village kits (think winter village!).

As for assembly, Greenleaf has this to say, "[the dollhouses] feature an easy tab and slot assembly requiring no nails, screws, or tools. Any wood glue or a hot melt glue gun can be used to assemble the kits in just hours." Sounds like a great way to spend winter break!

Because of their more delicate nature, these are intended for older children - the company recommends 12 and up, but we think that's a bit conservative. You can see and purchase Greenleaf Dollhouse kits through their online store or many retailers, including FAO Schwarz.
