Three friends with a passion for design spotted an old chair by the dumpster one day and rather than pass it by without a thought, they were hit with inspiration, marking the creation of Homeless Design Lab.

Discarded furniture gets a makeover at Homeless Design Lab. Like eccentric great-aunts clad in bold colors and rich textures, these pieces flaunt their style fabulously.
When three pals from design school found a chair by a dumpster they took it home, spiffed it up, and Homeless Design Lab was born. The eco-conscious design team refurbishes found pieces, giving old furniture with good bones a whole new look in their studio near Fort Lauderdale.

Homeless Design Lab, or HDL for short, uses low or zero VOC finishes and green guard certified fabrics on chairs like the cheekily titled "Maria Comes to South Beach." The vibrant mid-century dining chair combines a vintage remnant of Guatemalan embroidery with turquoise paint and plush lilac velveteen for a look that's all Latin glamour. Then there's "Don Chocolate" an elegant empire armchair that fuses delicious brown upholstery with persimmon lacquer--the perfect throne for a 21st century Napoleon.
