"Made from the heart..." Evolyn Brooks is the owner of a new online store called In My Solitude, which sells handcrafted home decor. Evolyn makes each piece by hand or on the sewing machine. She learned how to sew from her mother as a child, and she comes from a long generation of African-American quilters and seamstresses. In My Solitude is her way of paying homage to the women in her family and other female artists around the globe.

One of her most popular items is the "Possibility Pillow", which Evolyn created as a way to give comfort to others during challenging times. Each pillow is pink and designed with a pocket that can hold an encouragin note, prayer, affirmation or dream for the future. Ten percent of the proceeds from the Possibility Pillow go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Each of her pieces have bold cheerful colors layered through fun fabrics. She has pillows, quilts, table runners and much more. Pieces range from about $40 for a pillow to $300 for a large quilt. In my Solitude is a great place to look for a unique gift hand crafted with love for someone you love. Check out more here.
