San Francisco, CA and online
We've been noticing maps everywhere since we saw Elizabeth's Maps as Makeshift Wallpaper post. What a pleasant surprise to see such beautiful reproductions of vintage maps at kar'ikter on Sutter Street.
While walking around the European design store we spotted other classic niches, like Tintin and Le Petit Prince paraphernalia and other various french cartoon merchandise (like welcome mats!). The store also boosts an impressive selection of wall clocks, brightly colored lucite furnishings, colorful glass pieces, interesting mobiles, and Finnish design classics.
We absolutely fell in love with this Zig Zag floor lamp from France. The price tag of $1150 is a little steep for us, but we still think it's a great score for someone who likes multifunctional design.
We're constantly on the look out for a good bedside clock, and the Flip Wall clock (shown at top) seems like a perfect fit for our home because of its mid-century typeface and $140 price tag.
San Francisco is a city of studio apartments so we're always interested in new ways of organizing our papers. Goodbye, paper trays. Hello, aesthetically pleasing wall magnets! We also absolutely love the painted turquoise stripes on the back wall.
Not necessarily something we'd like in our own home, but we can't deny that these Color Tube Lights from Germany would at least be a conversation starter. With the price at $40 for a 4-footer or $45 for a 5-footer we bet it happens more often than not.
