I found these wonderful, colorful pillows in January at the Gift Fair, but have waited to write about them probably because I needed a bit of spring to push me. Margo Selby is a Brit, has won an award for her woven textiles and has a well established studio and business out of London. She's new here... Her signature is the three dimensional structure with striking color patterns of her textiles, which she applies to pillows, rugs, bags and scarves. It's a little bit like Missoni, but cozier. The pillows are made out of silk and lycra fibers, while her rugs combine wool, silk and banana fiber.
A bit of bio: "Inspired by the art teacher in Grange Hill who was also a graphic designer, Margo did an art foundation course, followed by a degree at Chelsea College of Art and an MA at The Royal College of Art. Convinced this was the life she wanted – “I felt so much happier around down to earth, creative types than cheesy showgirls” – she quickly discovered a passion and talent for weaving, winning the prize for beast weaver at the college in 2001 and a two-year fellowship after her MA, which paid for a studio, flat and living expenses." - more at Northwest Magazine
These are really lovely, not easily found in the States but you can buy them directly through her site. Enjoy!
