We met Michael Galica, the proprietor of Marin Outdoor Living, at -- you guessed it -- Dwell on Design. He was very enthusiastic about being able to share his eco-friendly products with us.
The contemporary EcoSmart fireplaces first caught our eye (and that of many other attendees) -- they're indoor/outdoor, ventless, blueless fireplaces that burn on renewable energy.
Galica, who lived for 10 years in Costa Rica, and has also worked in real estate design, decided to open a store when he noticed that no one was selling well-designed, environmentally conscious outdoor furniture and outdoor products. In addition to EcoSmart fireplaces, Marin Outdoor Living sells outdoor furniture, swim spas and hot tubs, Shade Makers, and concrete vessels. Galica's goal is to "provide everything you could want to see from your porch and in your yard that is both environmentally conscious and luxurious."
All furniture pieces are made of FSC, ITTO, IBAMMA certified Ipe (a Brazilian hardwood that's three times as hard as teak), electro-polished stainless steel or powdercoated steel, a high density polyboard, and/or a natural composite resin-infused paper-based product
Concrete vessels can be used indoors or outdoors, and come in various colors
