Tucked into a quiet stretch of Venice Boulevard not far from the beach is a brand new showroom with both modern and green sensibilities. MASH studios, long a favorite here at Apartment Therapy for their LAX furniture series, has gone official with a brick and mortar store and office showcasing their custom lines of furniture and designs.
Founded in 2002 by Bernard Brucha, MASH studios consists of diverse team of designers, architects and engineers grounded in industrial design and fabrication with an emphasis on longevity and durability. They offer custom design services for residential, retail and corporate interiors as well as the design of custom furniture.
They currently offer two lines of furniture, the LAX Series which could be described as simple, modern and elegant. There is nothing superfluous or showy about the designs, they are pieces with beautiful lines, solid construction and presence. We love their wall mounted storage with lacquered doors in pop art colors, their simple desks and benches. Their new PCH Series named for the Pacific Coast Highway features furniture that mixes teak with aluminum accents on side tables, credenzas and storage pieces. Slightly more glamorous and subtle than the bright colors in the LAX series, the raw wood and textured aluminum in the PCH line are earthy and Their wood block day bed is a favorite as is the wood block coffee table.
And one of the things we like best about MASH is their commitment to the community. Not only are their materials sustainable, but all their designs are manufactured locally in Los Angeles.
