Minneapolis Room & Board Outlet

If you plan on heading way north any time soon, listen to this. Our friend Dr. Roni just returned from defending her doctoral dissertation in Minneapolis. While there, she balanced her brain work with some shopping for her new home back in Chicago. The stop: Room & Board Outlet. Here's what she wrote: "I found the patio table of my dreams and checked to see if we could take it apart and fit it in my car. I went to pay and mentioned to the nice woman at the register that we would be driving it back to Chicago. Her: We could deliver it to our distribution center in Oak Brook. Me: And how much would that cost? Her: Nothing. Me: Yay!!! It will arrive in Oak Brook in about 2 weeks, and I have the choice of picking it up myself or paying $69 for home delivery. It would be kind of demented for AT readers to make the trip to MN just for the outlet, but it would be equally demented to visit the Twin Cities without making the pilgrimage. All of the outlet info is available on their website. They are only open on weekends and people do line up outside. I love discount furniture mania. It is a massive space and the deals are abundant. Most of the stuff there seems to be marked down at least 30%, some as much as 75%. There are lots of dents and scratches, but you can also find custom order returns (Leslie and Shevvy's spectacular living room set was that kind of a find), overstock, and samples that never made it to production. That's the story with my patio table, which would have listed for $500. I got it for $129.99, and sales tax is a mere 6.5%. I saw lots of the big R&B hits, including a Noguchi table, beautiful bed frames and mattresses, rugs, and lots of sexy seating on the cheap. So tell all of those midwesterners to check it out, and I'll see you outside for sangrias as soon as the table arrives." Turns out that Roni's patio table arrived in Oak Brook in three days! (Thanks, Roni!)
