Where do you go to buy art?
"In our television and film ridden culture, us younger folk don't identify with buying a picture like our parents did long, long ago...." Believe whatever you want, but young, entrepenuerial artists, collectors and gallery owners are hard at work and their biggest advantage is the Web.
Mixed Greens is one of many galleries with website shops that are making this change happen. Already written up by Time Out:
Mixed Greens lists prices on its website—something that snootier galleries wouldn’t consider—and allows you to search by categories such as price and size.
and US News and World Report:
The Ikea of online art galleries, specializing in inexpensive but attractive art.
we like the fact that you can see so many artists and their work so easily (especially when we are trapped at the computer all day), and that the prices are, well, low. Mixed Greens does an excellent job of highlighting the artists, not themselves, which is refreshing, and it made us far more interested in them as a company.
They are available for art consulting and parties, have their own magazine, and even sell gift certificates for art!
