3 different lamps created with Mottega
The newly launched Mottega is the latest venture of Arteriors Home founder Mark Moussa. The Dallas-based online retailer's first product is a collection of high-end table lamps that are customized by you — customers choose a lamp shape, color, base, finial and shade to create the ideal lamp for their space — all the options are available to create traditional, transitional or modern lamps. This is how it works…
Mottega currently stocks 9 lamp shapes in 9 colors and features a selection of bases, finials and shades for further customization — all of the components are stocked in Dallas (ceramics originate from Portugal) and one of the most amazing things is the quick turn around for assembly and shipping — only 14 days!
CHOOSE A SHAPE
The interface includes a height measurement for each lamp base and I chose the smaller Capri shape (about 14") but the Tresana and Portofino measure 24".
CHOOSE A COLOR
The nine options range from bright Mandarin and Sol to the classic Crackle or Cashmere.
CHOOSE A BASE
There are six options for bases and the material and color will determine the color of your lamp's socket hardware (all solid brass — with a brass or silver finish) and the options you have for your finial.
CHOOSE A FINIAL
Your selection of finials is determined by the base color.
CHOOSE A SHADE
You are free to confgure a lamp with or without shade. The Mottega offerings are basic but well-considered for the current range of lamp base shapes: tall drum, flat drum or tapered coolie.

In my experience the lamps are extremely well-made fixtures for professional designers and design enthusiasts. While expensive — lamps are in the range of $500 - $700 — the quality is evident in everything from the fabric wrapped cord, sturdy shade and especially the solid brass double sockets which are all height-adjustable and have a hefty pull chain for each bulb.
I was very impressed with the quick turn around on my Azure Capri lamp — the packing method was the most carefully executed I've ever experienced.
Mottega plans to expand their product assortment in the future with additional customized options including a color-match system so designers can match lamp color to specific Benjamin Moore colors (obviously this type of customization will take longer than the the standard 2 weeks).
There are a few retail partners where Mottega Lamps can be viewed in person and this list will grow in the fall as they expand the collection.
