Offi's been around since 1997, but it really began to take off in 2000, when Eric Pfeiffer took over as VP of design. His bent plywood products — including the well-known Mag Table, Scandi Table, and Wave Desk — became synonymous with Offi's practical, contemporary aesthetic. Pfeiffer left in 2004 to start his own firm, but he continues to release new products via Offi. Meanwhile, the company has made some major changes.

They recently moved their long-time headquarters from Tiburon, California to Corning, New York. (In a similar shift, modern design giant DWR made the West-to-East Coast move last year.)

They've also expanded their office collection, working with Steelcase to offer top-selling task chairs, file cabinets, and work tables through the Offi webshop. Simultaneously, they've focused on their kids' collection, which sells through the webshop and a large network of retail dealers.

While Eric Pfeiffer is still their marquis designer, they've begun to work more with other talents, including Scott Wilson of Minimal (who designed the kids collection's Nest Crib, Bassinet, and Play Table) and Srdjan Simic of Studio Simic (who designed the popular folding Paket Table and Chairs).
