We are flea market junkies. A stroll through this industrial district auction house and antique mall is just what the doctor ordered on a rainy fall afternoon.
The enormous warehouse is the most extensive treasure trove of vintage finds in Seattle, and the vendors do a great job of displaying their wares, grouped by specialty.
Here you can find a stall full of 1950s Hawaiian cane furniture and paintings, plenty of stalls specializing in mid-century classics like real-deal Eames loungers, Mies van der Rohe chairs and Knoll tables.
The Pacific rim connection is evident in the availability here of authentic Japanese wood block prints and antique Chinese lacquer.
Pacific Galleries holds a weekly live auction and “premier” auctions every six weeks; items can be previewed here. But who wants to bother with all that? Browsing the warehouse is more our style, and well worth it.
