Sean and Celesta Carter, owners of Paper Street Market, credit Paris flea markets for their approach to retail. Their store in St. Petersburg, Florida has an eclectic blend of chippy vintage furniture, industrial pieces, architectural elements, along with re-purposed jewelry and art made by locals. The 2500 square foot store is full up to its tall ceiling, and gives shoppers that thrilling feeling of the hunt for something special. No one style prevails. In one corner, a cow skull on a table makes company with vintage chunks of brilliant blue factory glass. Traditional armchairs, re-upholstered in red and white Day of the Dead fabric, hang out in the middle of the floor. There is a lot to look at, and it's easy to find something you've never seen before. Price tags have information about what each item is and where it came from.

Paper Street grew out of Celesta and Sean's own collection of estate sale finds, auction buys, and yard sales treasures. After purchasing their first home, they went on a search for unique pieces to incorporate into their own decor. And they loved it so much they just didn't stop. When they outgrew the house, they knew it was time to open a retail space. A small store quickly gave way to their current, larger location in downtown St. Pete.

Celesta and Sean are particularly keen on finding pieces from the Tampa Bay area, such as old cigar molds from area tobacco factories, or vintage circus posters. And their love for what they do is contagious: Paper Street's website has a gallery of photos that happy customers have sent in, all showing purchased pieces in their new homes. Prices are very affordable, especially considering that they are often one-of-a-kind. Which means you won't have to sell your first born child for that medical cabinet you love so much.

The store is located on Central Avenue in historic Grand Central St. Petersburg (and the soon-to-be-named Edge District between 9th and 16th).
