I wasn't sure
Los Angeles, CA
if I was willing to share one of my best kept secrets with everyone, but we're a family now, right? So here it is: Pepe's Thrifty Shop
in Culver City. The place isn't big, but it's literally piled from floor to ceiling with furniture. It's a treasure chest teeming with possibilities. Furniture ranges from Mid-Century credenzas to 40's liquor cabinets to French bistro chairs. Plus they have a healthy selection of lamps, clocks, chandaliers, mirrors and paintings.
New furniture is added constantly, so if you don't find what you're looking for, try again a week later. Locals know to check back often, so if you do find something you can't live without, buy it on the spot. Although you pay a bit higher for the convenience of shopping in town, I've also found that they aren't above friendly bartering.
