Frustrated by a lack of really simple, cool outdoor furniture, one of our favorite local landscape designers took it upon herself to design some. So a couple of years ago Judy Kameon and her husband started Plain Air, a mid century inspired furniture line that was available to her clients and to the trade. Now, after a freak accident involving a dump truck, they're launching a showroom and making their designs available to us all:
Long a fan of the mid century aesthetic of simple, streamlined shapes with bold colors, Kameon has channeled this love into Plain Air. Using shiny powder coated steel, simple shapes, and tile, her furniture works to create mod outdoor living space. Her gardens, which grace the exteriors of several mid century architectural gems in Los Angeles have always been an extension of the indoors, drawing people outside into intimate spaces and so it's no surprise that her furniture would continue to do the same.
The opportunity came when a dump truck backed into her offices and forced a remodel of their lower level. Realizing the possiblity, they launched the Plain Air Showroom and decided to make the line available to the public.
The Plain Air Showroom is open on Fridays from 10am-5pm or by appointment.
